THE ACTUAL AUTOMOBILE WE AT NV REGISTRY ARE HELPING MARKET FOR OUR PRIVATE CLIENTS IS A 1957 OLDSMOBILE 88 HOLIDAY HARD-TOP IN THE TWO TONE, ROSE MIST AND WHITE EXTERIOR AND THE SAME INTERIOR. THE CAR IS BEAUTIFUL!!
FOR 1957 ONLY, THE BASIC OLDS 88 WAS OFFICIALLY NAMED THE "GOLDEN ROCKET 88", TAKEN FROM OLDSMOBILE'S 1956 MOTORAMA, TWO-PASSENGER SHOW CAR. THE ONLY BADGING THOUGH, WAS A SIMPLE "88" UNDERNEATH EACH TAIL LIGHT.
THERE WAS ALSO ANOTHER OPTION IN 1957 THAT WAS OFFERED AND THAT WAS THE "J2" OPTION THAT WAS PART OF THE GOLDEN ROCKET 88, IN THE THREE 2 BARREL CARBURETORS, SIMILAR TO THE PONTIAC TRI-POWER.
OLDMOBILE CONTINUED THE SUPER 88 AS THE UPSCALE MID-LINE SERIES AND THEY INCREASED THE ROCKET 88 IN DISPLACEMENT TO 371 C.I. AND 277 HP FOR ALL MODELS ACROSS THE BOARD!!
BESIDES THE GOLDEN ROCKET 88 WHICH WAS MORE THAN ENOUGH, ALTHOUGH RARE, YOU COULD STILL GET A MANUAL 3-SPEED TRANSMISSION.
STYLING WAS MORE EVOLUTIONAL THAN RADICAL OVERALL, AND THEY MARKETED IN ALL SERIES THAT HAD A FIXED ROOF BODY STYLE (EXCLUDING WAGONS AND CONVERTIBLES) THE "TWIN- STRUTTED REAR WINDOW". BUICK USED THE 3- PIECE REAR WINDOW DESIGN WITHOUT ANY MARKETING NAME THOUGH. OLDSMOBILE ALSO ADDED A SAFETY DEEP-RECESSED STEERING WHEEL IN 1957, BUT THE ROCKET 88 WAS WHAT PUT THEM ON THE MAP WITH THE TRI-POWER 3X2 CARB ENGINE.
THE MILES ON THIS VEHICLE ARE LOW BUT, NOT GUARANTEED TO BE THE 43,719 BECAUSE THAT WAS WHAT IT SHOWED ON THE ODOMETER WHEN THE CURRENT OWNERS BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ODOMETER, SO IT'S A GUESS AS TO HOW MANY MILES WERE ADDED FROM WHEN IT BROKE, TIL WHEN OUR CLIENTS BOUGHT THE CAR AND REPLACED THE ODOMETER.
I IMAGINE THAT THIS CAR IS SOMETHING THAT ANY COLLECTOR OR ENTHUSIAST, WOULD LOVE TO HAVE IN THE CONDITION IT'S IN THAT HAS ONLY BEEN "MILDLY CUSTOMIZED" TO QUOTE THE OWNERS EXACTLY.
YOU CAN TELL THAT IT IS NOT A "RESTOMOD", IN THE TERM THAT, IT'S BEEN RESTORED AND/OR MODIFIED TO LOOK LIKE SOMETHING OTHER THAN WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE AND DRIVE LIKE ETC... I PERSONALLY, WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO TELL IT APART FROM ONE THAT CAME OFF OF THE LINE IN 1957 ALL ECXEPT FOR A FEW OF THE MILD CUSTOMIZATIONS DONE TO THE CAR.
LIKE THE SPOTLIGHTS ON THE OUTSIDE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE THAT LOOK LIKE CHROME SPOTLIGHTS ARE ACTUALLY A VERY NICE WAY TO HIDE AND HAVE A WAY TO OPEN THE SHAVED DOOR HANDLES IF YOU LOOK CLOSE IN THE PHOTOS BECAUSE, THERE ARE BUTTONS THAT ARE HIDDEN UNDER THE LIGHTS TO OPEN THE ACTUAL DOORS!! VERY INGENIOUS BUT, THE OWNERS WANTED TO BE CRYSTAL CLEAR AND MENTION EVERYTHING THEY CAN THINK OF AND THE LIGHTS ACTUALLY DON'T WORK THEY'RE LIKE A JAMES BOND TYPE OF BUTTON HIDING DEVICES.
THE OWNERS ARE ASKING A VERY REASONABLE PRICE OF ONLY $30,000 FOR THIS OLDS 88 COUPE AND THEY HAVE HAD MECHANICAL WORK DONE OVER THE YEARS JUST AS WITH ANY AUTOMOBILE AND THEY HAVE PAPERWORK FOR THE BUYER OF THE CAR AS WELL TO SHOW ANY WORK THAT'S BEEN DONE. WE FEEL IT IS WORTH THE ASKING PRICE AND MORE!
