HERE IS SOME MORE INFORMATION AND SPECS FROM WAY BACK IN THE YEARS WHEN THE CAR WAS BUILT, TO THE CURRENT SPECS THAT THE CAR HAS CURRENTLY AND WHAT YOU, THE BUYER, WOULD BE ACQUIRING WHEN PURCHASING THIS PONTIAC VENTURA.

HERE IS  SOME INFO MAINLY FROM SOURCES OTHER THAN THE OWNER HIMSELF.

The 421SD was available in 1961 as a dealer option or over the counter then in 62 and 63 from the factory, and was fitted with a list of internal modifications designed solely to withstand the abuse of drag racing. Cam was a #541596 McKellar No. 10 with 308/320 degrees of duration and 0.445 / 0.447-inch lift (11.3 / 11.4 mm) with 1.65:1-ratio rocker arms and solid lifters, special #529238 forged-steel connecting rods, forged aluminum 4.09-inch (104 mm) bore Mickey Thompson pistons, #542990 forged-steel crankshaft with a 4.00-inch (102 mm) stroke and 3.25-inch (83 mm) diameter main journals. Dual Carter 500cfm #3433S (front) and #3435S (rear) carburetors with manual chokes and mechanical linkage.

Factory heavy-duty high-pressure oil pump and eight-quart sump, four-bolt main bearing caps, with Moraine aluminum bearings, and #1110976 dual-point distributor without vacuum advance. Two different cylinder-head castings were used for the 1962 model year, both with a combustion chamber volume of 68 cc (4.1 cu in) to produce an 11.0:1 Compression Ratio.

Casting No. 540306 featured 1.92/1.66-inch valves and was carried over from the previous model year.
Affectionately known as “The over the counter killer.”

The Following Information Is From the Owner Himself, and Sources He Has Received Information from As Well. The Info Below Is About This Particular Car Too.

This Pontiac Ventura Bubbletop
Coupe comes equipped with, 405 bhp, 421 cu. in. Super Duty V-8 engine with two Carter four-barrel carburetors, Borg-Warner T-10 four-speed manual transmission, independent front suspension with unequal length A-arms and coil springs, semi-floating rear axle with coil springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 119 in.

The late 1950s was a good time for Pontiac. With numerous wins, ranging from NASCAR to the local drag strips, Pontiac was regarded by many as the performance division of General Motors, especially following the introduction of its famous “Wide Track” chassis layout in 1959. The cars that were built on these chassis were often credited as being the best-handling full-size cars in the industry.

Pontiac’s success continued in 1960 with four NASCAR Grand National victories, Mickey Thompson’s quadruple Pontiac V-8 Challenger land-speed record car, and Jim Wagners’ NHRA Top Eliminator drag racing title. Nineteen sixty-one proved to be just as fruitful, with 21 more NASCAR Grand National victories, and accordingly, the full-size Catalina Super Stock drag racing car was unleashed later that year.

The defining feature of the Super Stock package was the 421-cubic inch Super Duty V-8 engine. The unit was developed from the slightly smaller 389 Super Duty motor, and it was listed as being capable of producing 405 horsepower, which is a figure that many believed to be drastically lower than its true rating.

Both of these engines were originally dealer-installed options, but since the NHRA moved to limit racing eligibility to factory-available options on cars available to the public, Pontiac made the SD 421 a factory option for 1962, and most of the approximately 164 SD 421 engines were installed in the Catalina, with another 16 being installed in the upscale Grand Prix.

While not an original SD 421 car, the Ventura was purchased with a stock drivetrain, in California during the late 1980s by Ed Giolma, who performed a frame-off restoration. He added the SD 421 engine and changed the color combination to a black paint finish over a green interior. It is also equipped with a T-10 four-speed and a Safe-T-Track rear end with 4.10:1 gears. These upgrades were performed with paramount importance placed on factory correctness, and the car continues to show quite well as a result. After its restoration, the car was purchased in 2002 by noted collector Milton Robson, who retained the car until 2010, when it was acquired for the Andrews Collection.

As this Ventura is fitted with the highest performance engine built by Pontiac at the time, there is no doubt that it goes off like a rocket. The car’s unique color scheme only adds to its menacing appeal. The engine bay, as well as the exterior and interior of the car, is in wonderful condition, and this Ventura would certainly revel out on the open road or down at the local quarter-mile.

So We Are Working with The Current Owner To Find The Right Collector, Or Buyer Out There For This Pontiac. I have Numerous Photos In Here To Represent The Car As Well As Possible and Not Like a Project That is Being Done. The CAR IS READY and Only Needs A New Owner and Nothing Else. DISCLAIMER AND MARKETING AGREEMENT FOR NV REGISTRY

We at NV Registry assist the customer in marketing their vehicle by utilizing various auction sites, marketing sites online, social media platforms, print advertising and search engine optimization.

              CONDITIONS OF USE:

Welcome to NV Registry where we provide website features, products, and services to market your vehicle (s) or machinery or aircraft or boat etc.... until sold.

              RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BUYER:

Taxes, registration, transportation, shipping, fuel costs, and inspection of the vehicles.

              RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SELLER:

Payments are arranged between the seller and their financial institution along with inspection of the vehicle (s).  In addition to this, any seller of an item on this website has the choice to put a hidden reserve, or in other words Bottom Dollar, on whatever item or items they're Advertising with NV Registry. Therefore any person or persons who have the highest bid at the end of the auction period, does not mean that they have won the item or items being auctioned if it does not hit the reserve and is too far away and the seller chooses to run the auction again or just chooses not to sell what they are auctioning. That choice is theres to make and the buyer will be notified within 48hrs of the end of the auction and they're the highest bidder.

              REFUND/RETURN POLICY:

All advertising and marketing packages have a 30 day duration from the day that customer signs up with NV Registry.

NV Registry does not guarantee a sale of any Clients Inventory.  Cancellations are allowed within 72 hours and will be assessed a 25% administration fee.  Any customer or client of NV Registry becomes a client when they are sent their receipt for services. Also known as REGISTRATION FEE for us to market and advertise what you are selling. The 72 hours starts when you are emailed the receipt for that fee. You will have a specific customer ID number that is only for you and is assigned to what you are advertising with us.

A very important note, we spend a lot of money at the BEGINNING of marketing what it is you're trying to sell, so we do not work with a contract and that is for our clients benefit so if you happen to get a buyer who sees your item, or you find a buyer outside of our network then you can feel free to sell it to whomever and whenever you would like with no penalty, fines, or anything like that. All we ask is that you tell us it's sold so we can remove it from the sites we have it listed on.

If you're lucky enough to get it sold to a neighbor or any other avenue, the registration fee you paid NV Registry has been spent on marketing efforts already, so if you sell it in 9 days and decide to accept that offer from someone you are not due any sort of refund from NV Registry.

It is YOUR Choice to accept any offer on your inventory or decline that offer.  That is clear and does not differ under any circumstance. You can keep it with us to get a better offer or accept the one you have somewhere else that is your decision, but no refunds are given past the 72hrs.

              PRIVACY NOTICE:
